Presenting a DIY deconstructed aesthetic created through a blend of fabrics, textures and details, these black Nike Daybreak-Type Shoes showcase a reimagined take on a classic ‘70s style. Inspired by early Bill Bowerman prototypes pulled from the archives, the uppers are made from an airy mesh with menta and anthracite coloured suede overlays at the toe, laces border and heel whilst accentuated zig zag stitching provides durability and an additional detail that adds to the overall look of the design. Differing from the usual application, stitched outlines of the famous Swoosh tick emblem sit on either side of the foot whilst a synthetic clip on the heel strengthens this key area and above a leather panel provides a background for stylised ‘N.354’ lettering which references the inspiration behind the design. Similarly, the woven label around the edge of the lightly padded tongue shows the same text with an outlined Swoosh tick illustration underneath. Throughout the inside of the shoe a soft fabric lining has been added for comfort whilst underfoot an iconic rubber waffle sole pattern provides traction, durability and an additional reference to Nike’s rich design history.
Adorned with bold flashes of colour and a variety of textures which add depth to one of Nike’s best love retro silhouettes, this new edition of the Nike Daybreak-Type taps into contemporary projects which pull references from the brands archive and iconic figures associated with the company. Designed for everyday wear, the selected fabrics and finishes create a durable and comfort-focused finish whilst unique details add a distinctive character that stands out from the crowd and appeals to anyone seeking a striking footwear design that celebrates Nike’s history.
